Upcoming flicks

Posted: August 7, 2008 in Our Expression

I have to admit, I am getting a little tired of these flicks that are based somewhere on the front lines of the 1950’s Black civil rights movement. Don’t get me wrong, I love our history. It’s just that I know there is more to  the Black experience in this country besides fighting racist White folks, acting the fool at family reunions and church events.

This fist movie tells the story of college football hall of famer Ernie Davis. The trailer looks pretty good. Check it out.

This next one…I’ll just give you some key words and you can figure it out.

  • Crazy Black man
  • Samuel L. Jackson
  • Interracial couple (White man/Black woman)
  • Hatred
  • Guns

Surprise, surprise, surprise. Welcome to Lakeview Terrace. Sheesh!

  1. One era largely ignored is the 30 years or so bracketing the turn of the century. I would like to know more about the effects of this period of rapid transition from manual power, to motorized power and how that affected rural society.
