I don’t plan on getting a cleft palate anytime soon

Doing some quick browsing, I came across the following article which talks about McCain’s recent meeting with Black Republicans. For whatever reason, the author did not cover ANY of McCain’s responses or comments during the conference call–only those who were invited to the meeting (very interesting indeed). Anyway, you can read the whole thing here, but check out this comment from Michael Steele:

From msnbc.com

But that does not mean the party should concede the group, Steele said, adding McCain has a unique story to tell black voters and can “show his heart,” specifically citing the family’s adoption of daughter Bridget, who was born in Bangladesh with a cleft palate. (source)

Uhhh, dude! Showcasing a child with a cleft palate as a way to get the Black vote?

Just lovely.
