BOSTON (nysun.com)  “The number of blacks running for U.S. senator or governor this year will set a record. The number of winners may not.
Three Senate and three gubernatorial candidates are on the ballot in the November 7 elections, more than at any time in American history; even more unusual is that three of the candidates are Republicans.
In the highest-profile races, Lieutenant Governor Michael Steele, a Republican, is trailing in polls in the race for a Maryland Senate seat, while Rep. Harold Ford, a Democrat, is in a dead heat in Tennessee. At the moment, only one black candidate  Deval Patrick, a Democrat who is running for governor of Massachusetts  is favored to win.” (more…)

Dear Duane,
Steele is a good man who deserves to be elected. If he is not, I have to attribute his loss to the general moral decline in America and among many blacks. I hate to sound like the preacher I am, but emotionalism has replaced solid thinking in the pulpits and pews (and not just in the “black churches”). I don’t know or especially care where you stand on this specific issue, but I really believe that good moral teaching would fix most of the ills we see in societies around the world. Imagine if more people started “not looking out for their own interests, but also for the interests of others”, and “do unto others as you would have them do unto you”, and “he must labor, performing with his own hands what is good, so that he will have something to share with one who has need.”
Thanks for the forum.
