WJZ) African-American students from St. Frances Academy in East Baltimore and students from Beth Tfiloh High School, in Pikesville, have come together to share their cultures.
On Wednesday, as part of an exchange program called BLEWS, sophomores from both schools met at Beth Tfiloh to learn about Purim, a Jewish holiday. The relationship between Blacks and Jews is one that has a very long history. It has only been recently that this relationship has hit some “bumps” (mainly here in the US). When I get the time, I will do a brief overview of this relationship through the years.

Any communication is good. This can’t hurt anything. While I think that dblack may be right in a lot of cases, in the Army they taught us ‘Know your Enemy’.
A little strong perhaps, and this may end up being a good thing for the kids involved.
The Jewish community in Chicago are trying to bully the black community. So far it hasn’t worked. Black people here had to rally behind one another to show that we will not stand by while you push one of us around. I think the only way Jews and blacks will ever get alone is that we (blacks) must do whatever the Jews tell us to do - and this will never happen.

It suggests that we really take a look at the African-American - Jewish relationship.
I have always felt that this ‘empathy’ from Jews was a sham. While they were persecuted for centuries, they developed coping mechanisms to deal with it.
One of those mechanisms was to put someone else between them and ‘the oppressor’. That way they established a buffer. All the rhetoric about their help in the civil rights movement, establishing the NAACP, and the rest may have been little more that strengthening the buffer.
I have always felt that the concern of the Jews for the plight of others was a sham.

Here is another little ugly fact about white jews in USA which is never discussed by white jewish professors on college venues.. after WWII when white jews escape the racism of Germany they came to USA and during the jim crow era expressed the same contempt for black folks as the WASPS also during this same period in South Africa many jews escape there and many also took advantage of thier whiteness in that aparthied era..
There is a lot of history here that token little tales by people like Peg and Duane simply do not measure up or objectively tell the whole story…of course when a black dares to question white jewish racism he/she is attacked as antisemitic and you know the rest of the deal..

Racist views are changed one person at a time. I am Black and I sadly think that racial prejudice is getting worse in N. America. I do not ask for special treatment or favors of any kind from any institution — what I ask is that non Black people consider for one moment that it is quite a challenge being Black — anywhere! I don’t think that non Black people realize how easy life is just by not being born Black. It sucks for me to feel this way — to look at TV, and magazines and see one type of beauty being marketed as the ideal/standard. There are many more examples of this type of brainwashing that affects even me — a Black female. I say that because people assume that Black women are hardened, and unfeminine. At the end of the day, the only equalizers for all human beings is disease, death, and losses of some sort.
According to the Bible Abraham was born in Iraq. So I guess that makes Jews the descendants of an Iraqi. We are all related, it’s a pity that everyone isn’t taught that from day one. I think that the Black vs Jew animosity is much more pronounced on the east coast because I can’t think of any really bad experiences that I have had with Jews in California, or the west coast in general.

This actually happened.
When I was a senior in high school I had homeroom with a Jewish boy. We both majored in commercial art and I was the only other black person in either class. This Jewish guy wanted to be accepted very badly by the WASP kids. He had dark skin which could best be described as dark olive. His hair was dark brown, rough textured, and very curly. When school started in September he didn’t look that different from the WASP kids who had spent the summer laying in the sun tanning. He definitely was the color of many of the black kids at school. He thought blacks were hilarious, especially me whom he asked, “where did you learn to draw?” He was laughing while he asked me. As fall progressed the sunny days gave way to cloudy short days and long dark nights and the Jewish guy’s tanned skin stayed put the same as us blacks, but the WASP kid’s skin faded to its natural pale color. One day in homeroom a white girl loudly asked the Jewish guy, “why are you so dark?” She was frowning when she asked him. He timidly smiled and said, “you are looking at a Jewish person.” That was it. The fact that he was Jewish travelled schoolwide, and he lost most of his white friends. He tried to befriend the blacks kids at that point, but they didn’t want to be friendly with him because he had previously joined in with the white kids in making fun of them. He badly wanted to play football but was built too small to play. He ended up being the water boy for the football team. Most of the boys on the football team were black. After this Jewish kid had made fun of so many black kids and tried to make a fool of them, the black football players would ask him to bring them water, then pour it out at his feet. The last time I saw this kid was just before I graduated. I was on my way to school with my mom who on her way to work. He was franticly waiving at me from the rear of a car driven by white kids. My mom said, “dear that young man is waiving at you.” I immediately told her who he was, and how he had behaved toward the black kids at school. This was over thirty years ago, and he is probably a great success today, but I wonder if he any wiser.

I totally agree with NY2CA I do not condemm Bad people in one group. There are bad people that happen to be in either religion. I believe you should focus on there actions instead of putting down there religion and grouping them together.
