Providing emergency relief to save victims of famine and war, and long-term self-help strategies to enable the poor to rise above their circumstances, Food for the Hungry works in 28 countries. Delivering almost 90% of total income to the field (WOW! emphasis mine), Food for the Hungry mobilizes caring people and resources to feed both physical and spiritual hungers. Programs include child sponsorship, agriculture training, water resource development, education, medical care, reforestation and skills training. Recent relief efforts include Kosova, Ethiopia, Mozambique, Congo, El Salvador and India. Staff numbers nearly 1000, of whom more than 95% serve in their country of origin.
